Sam Wilde collaborated with Swatch at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai to create Equi‑ (Playtest), an interactive art installation that is a tool and a toy. Inviting visitors to step inside the work as both viewer and creator to shape its development through shared play.
A cabinet of curiosities offering an intimate look into the playtest stage of the Equi- series. The exhibition was filled with prototypes, material tests and the giant hanging Shanghai Chaos Frog sculpture capturing the 花花世界 energy of the city.
Displayed on shelves, visitors choose a one‑of‑a‑kind Frog Tessellation sticker tile that felt closest to their real‑life persona. Participants then tested positions, rotated and explored the tessellation logic before peeling off the backing and fixing their sticker tile in place. As the mural fills, the sticker tiles interlock seamlessly, with every individual placement becoming a collective trace.
