Sam Wilde collaborated with Apple to create a large-scale animated public artwork projected onto Battersea Power Station, London.
Forbidden Fruit Tree reimagines the Tree of Knowledge from the Garden of Eden as a monument to free will, where the forbidden fruits are swollen with light and weigh heavy with temptation. The branches rise like a ladder, pointing skyward toward the uppermost starfruit. A north star burning bright, it marks the moment of departure and the threshold to an uncertain future.
In a direct reimagining of Sylvia Plath’s The Fig Tree, Forbidden Fruit Tree presents a constellation of suspended life paths, each glowing with possibility. The lower fruits hang within easy reach, offering immediate and familiar choices, while the starfruit remains distant at the crown of the tree. Brightest yet hardest to attain, it stands as the ultimate choice, one that demands an arduous climb and a willingness to abandon the comforts of a paradise once known.
