Sam Wilde created Forbidden Fruits, a series of large-scale sculptures exhibited at the Chi K11 Art Museum, Shanghai.
Scattered throughout the space lie four enormous Forbidden Fruits, each marked by an unapologetic bite that invites reflection on the nature of free will. With polished surfaces that are neither wholly natural nor wholly artificial, the oversized forms denote both sweetness and poison. Suspended between temptation and foreboding.
Rather than portraying Eve as the cause of humanity's downfall, Forbidden Fruits celebrates the defiance that challenged Edenic fantasies of purity and control. Left behind in her absence, the Pineapple, Starfruit, Strawberry and Watermelon now stand as monuments to the decisions that shaped humanity.
