Sam Wilde proudly collaborated with Liberty for their January 2021 Atlas of Dreams collection. Culminating in a fine line ink pattern illustrated by Sam called Vespertine Waves.
Available in six distinctive aquatic colourways on Liberty's signature Tana Lawn™ cotton and silk twill. Vespertine Waves features a crescendo of a cresting waves flowing into one another in half-drop repeat.
Diving Deep
Stylistically Vespertine Waves references the great Eighteenth century Edo masters Hokusai and Kuniyoshi. Translating the dynamic movement of water in their iconic woodblock prints into an endless ocean.
The pattern is then modernised and brought to context with Sam's meticulous approach to shading to give the swelling waters a lively ribbon-like quality.
