In Ancient Greek mythology there were no traditional markers for duality, such as light and dark or good versus evil. Instead, the concept of balance was represented by the two rival God’s Apollo and Dionysus. With the former representing logic, order and healing and the latter representing passion, chaos and poison.
It was believed that the birth of all art came about through the push-and-pull between these two opposing Gods. With the key to creative expression being able to bounce between the forces of logic and passion. Or put simply, knowing when to follow the rules and when to break them.

Poison Panacea visualises this allegory with a Tree of Life that grows all manner of fruits, flowers, seeds and berries locked inside of an endless battle with one another.
Each plant is based on a real-world counterpart native to the Mediterranean region. With species such as the wild strawberry, bear’s breech and starflower having healing and medicinal properties and others such as deadly night shade, cocklebur and squirting cucumber having toxic and even lethal properties.
